BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

What happens during bereavement support? Well, that depends on the type of support you need.

Miscarriage (classified as a pregnancy loss under 20 weeks gestation): During a miscarriage my goal would be to help you learn what your options are, and if requested be there when you birth your baby. It can take time for our bodies to let go of a pregnancy, so I will be just a phone call or a text away while you wait for things to start.

Stillbirth (classified as a pregnancy loss at 20 weeks gestation or more): Like during a miscarriage I would help you learn your options, and I would provide all birth doula support in labor that I would usually provide, as well as bereavement support. This will look different for each individual family.

Infant Loss:

At times families find out that their baby will not live very long after birth, or at times the family finds out at birth that their healthy baby will not live very long due to complications (that were either not caught during the pregnancy, or complications from birth). I will assist how I usually would a laboring mom (if I arrive when labor is still happening), and then I would provide support in getting photographs, and keepsakes for the family. And I will support the family emotionally during this time.

Cost:

For these families services will be on a donation basis, but please, do not hesitate to reach out if you cannot donate, we can work something out.

For others that would like to donate to help these families, please contact me for donation information.

When to hire me:

When you feel like you need me, if that's in labor, that's okay, I will be leaving some availability on my calendar for situations like this. Just shoot me a text. If you find out in advance of a loss, and want to get to know me, you can also hire me prior to heading to the hospital for labor, and we can do some prenatal visits. My goal is to try to be available when needed, but if I can't for some reason, please reach out and I will still provide you with a resource list so you can get the support you need to help with this loss. If you are postpartum, no matter how far postpartum, and you are struggling, please feel free to reach out to me for support and guidance.

Services provided at the following delivery places: Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Livingston Regional Hospital, Cumberland Medical Center, and in some situations, the home of the client.

If you have a service that you would like to donate to these bereaved families, please feel free to message me. Thank you.
